We believe that great records are made through collaboration. We’ve dedicated our lives to the art of making music and aim to make every production the best we can make.
Our team has experience across a wide range of genres, from hip-hop, disco and soul to jazz, pop and world music. We focus on recording bands but also can facilitate a producer, trough which we bring together the expertise needed to take a project from the first idea to the finished record.
Our team consists of five professionals: Dion Groebe (NL), Angel Alvarez (ESP), Gregor Sperzel (GER), Davide Ruffini (ITA), and Leslie Wilkes (NL). All members of our team speak English.
Dion Groebe
Founder • Producer • Composer • Artist
Dion Groebe is a Dutch producer, composer and recording artist based in Amsterdam, and the founder of Soulclap Studios. His work spans artist development, live recording and commercial music, classic soul, disco, funk, jazz and world music with modern production techniques.
As an artist performing under the name Dionisos, Dion creates music inspired by the warmth and musicianship of the late ’70s and early ‘80s. His edit, remix and original productions have gained support from internationally respected DJs including Palms Trax DJ Harvey, François K and Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy, and are distributed through Rush Hour Music, one of Europe’s most respected independent labels and distributors.
Beyond his own artist project, Dion works with artists, bands, labels and brands as a producer, arranger and composer. He specializes in capturing authentic performances, building records from the ground up and creating music with a timeless character rather than following short-lived trends.
At Soulclap Studios, Dion combines creative direction with technical production, overseeing recording sessions ranging from intimate singer-songwriter productions to full live ensembles. His background as both a performing musician and producer allows him to translate artistic vision into recordings that feel natural, emotional and sonically refined.
Whether producing records, composing original music or developing artists, Dion’s philosophy remains the same: create music that lasts.
Gregor Sperzel
Over the past decade, Gregor Sperzel has performed and collaborated with some of the most renowned names in modern music. Horn features on songs with Tyler The Creator bands like Another Taste, and working with the names of Jarrod Lawson and Pete Philly just to name a few. He holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
As an active musician in the Dutch jazz, pop, funk, and disco scenes, Gregor performs with a diverse range of bands, orchestra’s ensembles and projects. Whether on stage, in the studio, or working remotely, he brings a distinctive, world-class horn sound together with versatility, musicality, and a strong sense of collaboration.
Gregor is passionate about bringing creative people together, coordinating projects, and turning ideas into high-quality musical results. At Soulclap Studio, he values the warm, bright, and personal atmosphere, creating an inspiring working environment where creativity can thrive.
